The project created a system of advanced IT solutions (low-cost sensors, BIM technology and cloud-based APPs) integrated into a simple, low-cost tool, aimed at helping building occupants to control the comfort level of their housing units. The project involved the development of the following phases: creation of a cloud-based architecture capable of receiving data from individual housing units, coupling them to the BIM component and calculating thermal comfort; creation of low-cost sensors that can be easily installed in the housing units (compact “Sphensor” sensor capable of measuring hygrothermal and environmental parameters); creation of a LiveAPP capable of allowing the query of the BIM model and the construction of customised graphs according to the specific interests of the users; definition of thermal comfort models; creation of a BIM add-in; verification of the solution in two test environments.
