Giulia Fava

ICAR/09 - Structural engineering

Giulia Fava joined the Earthquake Research Institute of the University of Tokyo during the years 2001-2003. In 2003, she received with honors her Laurea in Civil Engineering at the Politecnico di Milano and her Master in Engineering (MEng) at the University of Tokyo. In 2007, Dr. Fava received her PhD Degree in Structural Seismic and Geotechnical Engineering at the Politecnico di Milano with a thesis on strengthening of steel structures using carbon fiber reinforced polymer materials. Since 2010 she is Assistant Professor at Politecnico di Milano. Since june 2019 she is Associate Professor.

Her main research interests are the mechanical characterization of innovative materials, the durability analysis of elements reinforced by using composites, the development of analytical and numerical models to estimate the bond behavior of joints based both on stress distribution models and on fracture mechanics approaches.

Dr. Fava was involved in the development of research national projects granted by the Italian Ministry of University (MIUR), the national Research Council (CNR) and the Department of Civil Protection.

She is author of numerous scientific publications and reviewer for several journals.
