Giuliana Iannaccone

Professore associato
ICAR/10 - Architettura tecnica

Giuliana Iannaccone holds a MSc in Architecture (1998) and a PhD in Architectural Technology (2003) from Università degli Studi di Napoli “Federico II”. In 2007 she was appointed Assistant Professor and in 2014 Associate Professor of Architectural Engineering at Politecnico di Milano where she is active in teaching and research.

She is currently Head of the International Building and Architectural Engineering Graduate Program at Politecnico di Milano.

She is involved in collaborative research projects in the field of energy-efficient and zero-emission buildings, both new and existing. In particular, her primary research efforts have been to study and develop strategies and innovative technological solutions for the decarbonisation of the building sector, exploiting, in particular, the potential of cross-disciplinary, systems thinking approaches. Due to the long-term challenges of the built environment, she has more recently initiated interdisciplinary collaborations to introduce futures thinking methods to support her research in the field.

This knowledge is incorporated into the Responsive Urban Environments project, a broad interdisciplinary research and teaching initiative developed in collaboration with Drexel University in Philadelphia (USA) where she co-teaches two global classrooms on Responsive Urban Environments and Bio-inspired Design.
