The technical-administrative staff is responsible for administrative tasks and operational management in support of research, teaching, communication, and the overall functioning of the Department.

Department Manager
The Department Manager supports the Department's Governing Bodies by coordinating the staff of the administrative and technical area, and related activities. It works in coordination with the other University facilities and supports the Department Director in the management of resources in order to achieve the Department's objectives.

Governance Support Office
It manages the Department’s general affairs, including oversight of electoral procedures, support in defining regulations and guidelines, and support for the management of collegiate bodies. It oversees anti-corruption, transparency, and privacy matters through the application, monitoring, and supervision of procedures, as well as by providing advice to staff. It manages positions and careers, handling technical and administrative staff (PTA) and supporting academic staff. It performs activities to monitor health conditions and occupational health surveillance. It manages spaces through access control. Finally, it is responsible for the University’s Quality System.


Administration and Accounting Office
The Office is responsible for managing the Department’s budget and financial resources, including support for budget planning, the preparation of forecast and final budgets, and management control and reporting activities. It manages procurement—including tendering and purchasing procedures and the processing of incoming invoices—as well as accounting activities, including the active invoicing cycle, monitoring cash requirements, liquidity management, payment of fees and compensations, and the regularization and monitoring of provisional revenue and expenditure entries. Finally, it handles debt recovery, compensation management, the processing of advances on behalf of internal staff, and provides support for the management of business travel (missions).




Communication (sustainability)
The Office is responsible for sustainability communication and public engagement, including the organization of cultural and outreach events. It manages relations with the local community and public engagement activities and supports sustainability projects. It oversees the dissemination, communication, and public awareness of research through editorial activities and coordination with the Press Office. The Office manages content and provides digital and marketing services, including the management of social media channels. Finally, it is responsible for institutional, research, and teaching communication, including support for the Department’s institutional communication. Infrastructure & ICT Services Office
The Office manages spaces, maintenance activities, and asset enhancement planning, in particular through the oversight and upkeep of Department facilities, logistical services, maintenance of furniture and movable assets, audio and video support, waste management, verification of cleaning services, and the management of movable property assets. It manages IT platforms and infrastructures, including on-premises physical (servers and/or storage) and virtual resources (e.g. housing and/or ASICT hosting), as well as cloud-based IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) and PaaS (Platform as a Service) solutions. The Office manages workstations and tools, supporting the Department’s research and teaching activities. It oversees IT security, including the implementation—coordinated with ASICT—of ICT security policies. It also manages the intranet area and is responsible for the design and maintenance of the Department’s website. Education & PhD Services Unit
The Office manages research support appointments within the Department and supports international faculty through recruitment activities and assistance to Visiting Professors. It supports the planning and delivery of teaching activities by managing institutional teaching duties, direct appointments, and renewals of teaching contracts (including doctoral courses), as well as supplementary teaching contracts and related funding, and provides support for the management of doctoral programmes. The Office is responsible for the internationalization of teaching through the management and execution of international agreements. It develops and manages Master’s programmes, advanced training courses, and specialization schools. It also handles student orientation activities at entry and during studies, including the management of summer schools and tutoring contracts. The Office supports the administration of examinations and provides information services to students in the engineering area. It supports doctoral candidates throughout their training pathway up to the final examination and manages the doctoral community. It supports the activation and management of doctoral scholarships and manages agreements and conventions related to Executive PhD positions. Finally, the Office supports the design, promotion, and management of continuing education and lifelong learning activities.




Research Unit
The Office manages national and international research projects, including pre-award activities, opportunity scouting, support for negotiation, contract execution, and financial and technical reporting. It supports research activities, including Open Data and Open Access support, assistance with research quality assessment procedures (VQR), technical support for research activities—projects, contracts, and publications—and support to the University Ethics Committee. The Office develops strategic research agreements and manages departmental framework agreements, research collaboration agreements, and implementing agreements within University-level framework agreements. Lab Unit
The Office manages departmental laboratories by planning, supporting, and overseeing laboratory activities, including assistance to students, thesis students, and doctoral candidates. It plans, supervises, and, where necessary, carries out maintenance activities and manages laboratories in coordination with the Safety Office. It also supervises evacuation drills and updates emergency plans and risk assessment documents (DVR) for the facilities. The Office is responsible for prevention and protection activities, including mandatory internal training, risk assessment, updating activity-related risk assessment documents, defining specific and emergency procedures, and planning safety interventions.
