Maria Giuseppina Limongelli


ICAR/09 - Structural engineering

Civil Engineer and PhD in Seismic Engineering, from 2006 is Associate Professor at Politecnico di Milano, where she teaches at master courses in the school of Architecture (School AUIC) and she carries out her  research activity in the ABC department.

From 2013 she is Coordinator of the strategic research line on ‘Risk prevention and Emergency Management’ of the ABC Department and she is member of the Scientific Committee of the Department ABC.

She teaches courses of Structural Design and Earthquake Architecture at the School AUIC and in the Master Course of Seismic design of structures for sustainable constructions.

From 2015 she is substitute member in the Management Committee of two european projects on subjects related to Structural health monitoring (COST Action TU1402-Quantifying The Value of Structural Health Monitoring and COST Action TU1406-Quality Specifications for roadway bridges, standardization at a european level (BridgeSpec).

From 2014 she coordinates the group of Politecnico di Milano in the realm of the Reluis (Rete Laboratori Universitari Italiani di Ingegneria Sismica) project on Structural Monitoring.
From 2014 she collaborates, as Visiting Professor, with the French research center IFSTTAR (Institut français des sciences et technologies des transports, de l’aménagement et des réseaux).

From 2002 she is Member of the Commission for Continuing Education at the Milan Order of Engineers. Italy.

She is author of more than 80 journal and conference papers on themes related to seismic engineering and structural health monitoring and Member of the Scientific Committee of the International conference DAMAS (Damage Assessment of Structures) and reviewer con several international journals.

Expertize: Structural and seismic health monitoring, Vibration based damage identification methods, Dynamic behaviour of dissipating devices for seismic isolation.
