The Joint Seminar Series is the first online meeting open to everyone that aims to disseminate methodologies for studying and intervening on historical buildings affected by earthquakes. The focus of the seminar is the city of Vigan, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the northern Philippines. This opportunity is possible thanks to ongoing agreements between Politecnico di Milano – dABC and the University of Northern Philippines, who are joining together to form the knowledge base on the intervention of post-seismic protection of Cultural Heritage.
The seminar is divided into two days: during the first one, Politecnico di Milano – dABC will share its long-standing expertise developed through Italy’s seismic history, fostering knowledge exchange and establishing a collaborative network for research and disaster response. During the second day, University of Northern Philippines will provide an in-depth view of the city of Vigan, as the case study of this seminar, with the aim to assess how recent earthquakes have influenced scientific, technical, and legislative progress in safeguarding heritage sites.
Emphasis is placed on intervention strategies, the roles and relationships of stakeholders, and the integration of technical and regulatory frameworks.
