Bruno Daniotti (Responsabile Scientifico)
BIMReL is a research and development project aimed at creating a digital system for the structured management of information throughout the entire building lifecycle. The project stems from the need to integrate information requirements, regulatory standards, and technological innovation into a single interoperable environment, supporting BIM processes and the digitalization of the construction sector.
The R&D activities focused on four main directions. First, an open-source and interoperable database of building products and components was developed, structured around digital technical datasheets associated with BIM objects and aligned with the latest developments in Italian and international regulations (including UNI and ISO BIM standards). The objective is to ensure quality, traceability, and consistency of technical data, facilitating their integration into information models.
Moreover, BIMReL led to the development of a cloud-based web platform designed to be accessible to a wide range of users: citizens, private clients, public authorities, designers, manufacturers, construction companies, and trade associations. The interface was developed according to usability and transparency criteria, enabling intuitive yet comprehensive access to technical and performance-related information.
A further strategic objective is the promotion, also at the international level, of Lombardy-based and national manufacturing companies through the digital enhancement of their products within the BIM repository. The platform thus becomes not only a technical tool, but also a driver of competitiveness and innovation for the manufacturing sector.
Finally, the project included dissemination and validation activities involving key stakeholders, including associations of material and component manufacturers, strengthening the reliability of the system and fostering its adoption within the AEC market.

DABC Activities
• Coordination and project management. • Research activities aimed at structuring the platform: - definition, structuring, identification, and analysis of the required information; - user clustering and definition of the respective system access modalities; - structuring of digital technical datasheets for BIM objects in compliance with UNI standards; - analysis and design of the database for storing system information; - functional analysis of the new portal and design of the front-end logic.
