Hybrid PVT Assisted Heat Pump – Development of an integrated system for air conditioning from photovoltaic sources

Niccolò ASTE (docente coordinatore), Claudio DEL PERO, Rajendra Singh ADHIKARI, Fabrizio LEONFORTE

The project allowed the development of an integrated system conceived for the intensive coverage of air conditioning needs from solar sources, the heart of which is a highly innovative hybrid photovoltaic-thermal solar collector (PVT) specifically designed for architectural integration, capable of generating combined electrical and thermal energy. It represents the key element of a high-energy energy system based on an electric heat pump, thermal storage and an adaptive-predictive management and control logic capable of guaranteeing maximum application benefits.
The system makes it possible to increase the electrical and thermal efficiency of the PVT collectors, reducing the cost of the electrical energy generated, maximising the seasonal Coefficient of Performance (COP) of the heat pump and reducing the interchange of electrical energy with the grid, while guaranteeing a high level of architectural and plant integration.
