Enhancing historic gardens in Lombardy region through the development of a sustainable network of skills. Planned management plan as an operational tool.

The project developed actions of valorisation, education and awareness-raising for users and citizens, information, training of municipal technicians, involvement of users, support to Municipalities. The outcomes of the project were: 1) the drafting of a “Conservation and Management Plan” for each Municipality involved, including: historical analysis; metric, geometric and material survey and site composition; identification of historical values, and criticalities related to conservation and use; general indications for maintenance, exceptional interventions and uses; 2) the formation of new “Friends of the Park” associations formed by citizens, which carry out didactic activities, cultural initiatives, care and simple maintenance activities. A “Manual for the volunteer gardener” was drawn up to support them. A handbook for “Relations with the Superintendencies and knowledge of the protection regulations” was produced to support the municipal technicians, and training activities were carried out.
