The aim of ELISIR was to create a digitised construction supply chain, capable of integrating virtual design systems (BIM) to develop intervention models on the existing building stock for seismic upgrading and energy efficiency.
In terms of product innovation, the project introduced the sensitisation of some building components to provide data during the building life cycle and generate services to users based on IoT systems and predictive models derived from machine learning and cognitive computing procedures.
The proposed innovations concern: a) “seismic energy plaster” for interiors and exteriors, able to improve the mechanical and energy performance of existing buildings; b) “sensorial hydraulic connection” equipped with sensors that control the management of water resources throughout the network; c) “smart window” equipped with sensors and connectivity, serving environmental comfort and energy management.

DABC role

DABC has developed and fine-tuned a “smart window” capable of functioning as a sensor/actuator and adapting its operating model to the user’s habits. SeedLab.ABC developed the technology and the operating model of the window (rules and activation thresholds), supported the development of the prototype and analysed the data for code validation.
