Had his MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1995 and his PhD degree in Structural Engineering in 2001. He is currently Associate Professor in Structural Analysis and Design and tenured professor at the School of Architecture and Society at Politecnico di Milano. His current research interests concern conceptual design, testing and modeling of systems based on base isolation and energy dissipation for seismic protection of buildings and structures, and the study of bearings for constructions. He has been Third Party Reviewer for bearings and anti-seismic devices for several projects in Italy and abroad, among which there are the Dubai Metro, the improvement of Dubai Marina Bridges and the Third Bosporus Bridge in Istanbul. He has taken part, as Italian delegate, to committee for European standardization on structural bearings, anti-seismic devices and road expansion joints.
