Massimiliano Bocciarelli

ICAR/08 - Structural mechanics

Dr. Bocciarelli is Associate Professor at the Politecnico of Milan. He has been lecturing in the areas of Structural and Solid Mechanics at the School of Industrial Engineering and of Steel and Concrete Structures within the School of Architecture.
He graduated at the Politecnico of Milan, took a Master of Science in Structural Engineering at Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden and a Ph.D. in Structural Engineering at the Politecnico of Milan.
His research interests have primarily focused on the following topics: 1) numerical methods for the modeling of the service and ultimate behavior of materials and structures; 2) development of methodologies based on inverse analysis for the mechanical characterization of materials; 3) theoretical and experimental study on the reinforcement of structures using composite materials and 4) numerical methods for the diagnosis of masonry historical structures and for the estimation of their seismic vulnerability indices.
He is author of 30 papers on international journals and 2 book chapters on the above research topics.
