Architect, PhD in ‘Preservation of Cultural Heritage’ (1991), is full Professor at the Politecnico di Milano. Since 1998 consultant for the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage for landscape policies. Since 2005 expert of the Council of Europe, for the European Landscape Convention (ELC, Florence 2000). Since 2007 member of the ICOMOS-IFLA International Scientific Committee on Cultural Landscapes (ISCCL) and responsible  of the World Rural Landscape Initiative. Vice chair of the COST Action TD1106 ‘Urban Agriculture in Europe’ (2012-2016). Scientific director of national and international researches on gardens and landscapes conservation, management, enhancement and cultural policies, recently with special focus on rural landscapes. Director of the Lab. PaRID of the Dip.ABC of the Politecnico di Milano,  leading researches for public administrations, especially in Italy. Author of many national and international scientific publications.
