Enrico Sergio Mazzucchelli


ICAR/10 - Architectural engineering

Graduated in Building Engineering in 2001 (Politecnico di Milano), he is Associate Professor of Architectural Engineering at the ABC Department (Architecture Built environment and Construction engineering), Politecnico di Milano. He works in the field of design and verification of technical behaviour and performance of innovative systems, organisms and building components, focusing on building envelopes, integration and harmonization of building services and renewable energy sources systems in nearly Zero-Energy Buildings (nZEB), timber construction by means of industrial prefabrication techniques and technologies, retrofit of existing buildings. He is author of books, international conference papers and journal articles.

He teaches “Building Services Design Studio” (Bachelor of Science in Building and Construction Engineering) and he is lecturer assistant in the “Complex Buildings Design” and “Timber Construction Technologies” courses (Master of Science in Building Engineering), School of Architecture Urban Planning Construction Engineering.

He is member of associations, committees and scientific commissions, national and international, including “CIBW098 – Intelligent and responsive buildings” – International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction and “European Façade Network” (EFN).

He has been responsible and participated in many national and international funded research programs. In 2012, he has been guest researcher at the Högskolan i Gävle (Sweden), Academy for Technology and Environment. In 2016-2018, he participated in the COST Action TU1403 Adaptive Façades Network (AFN) project, funded by COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology).

He is member of the editorial board of the “Journal of Facade Design and Engineering” and of the scientific committee of Modulo, BE-MA Editrice. He is reviewer on international peer-review journals, including “Building and Environment”, “Journal of Building Engineering” and “Journal of Housing and the Built Environment”.
