ICAR/09 - Structural engineering

Professor Carlo POGGI is Full Professor in Theory of structures in the School of Material Engineering at Politecnico of Milano and is member of the Department ABC of Architecture, Built environment and Construction Engineering.

Current research interests
:

  • Use of fiber reinforced composites  for the rehabilitation and strengthening  of concrete steel and masonry structures ;
  • Non destructive methods for structural assessment of ancient masonry structures;
  • Mechanical properties of innovative materials for seismic isolation systems,

Management experiences:
He is head of the Testing Laboratory for Materials, Structures and Buildings Constructions of Politecnico di Milano. He is vice-director of the

Department.Membership of technical committees:
Member of several Italian and European committees and working groups in the fields of structural engineering. Italian representative in two CEN working groups for the development of European recommendations for steel and composite structures.

Teaching/Training: 
Responsible of the following undergraduate and post-graduate courses: Structural Stability, Theory of Structures, Structural Mechanics. Supervisor of several Degree and Master thesis. He has contributed to various training courses for engineers.

PhD Courses and thesis:
He is member of the academic boards of the Doctoral School in Architecture, Built Environment and Construction Engineering. He has been supervisor of various PhD thesis and appointed external examiner of PhD Thesis in various European Universities.

Coordination of research projects and contracts
Responsible for various European projects and research contracts funded by italian industries.
