Eidolon

The purpose of the Eidolon Experimental Unit is to identify the most efficient and effective criteria and processes in order to document and investigate archaeological finds and to communicate the results of these operations. With respect to each macro-category of finds, Eidolon aims to identify a combination of consolidated survey, investigative and communicative techniques that allow the extraction and transmission of information that can be derived from the objects themselves. Eidolon is a specialized Experimental Unit which mainly focuses on Egyptological case studies, but is strongly aimed in using, studying, improving and expanding criteria and procedures applicable in general to museums and archaeological projects dedicated to other historical and geographical areas. In this sense, the Experimental Unit operates in the broader field of protection, management and enhancement of Cultural Heritage. Eidolon makes use of a combination of 6 disciplinary sectors present within the Department, which collaborate in the construction of a holistic approach to the management of each individual case study.
