cHOMgenius_Prototype System & Shared Project – Extraordinary solutions for smart living

Circular economy, environmental sustainability, energy management, and innovation in the construction sector with a view to total disassembly/reuse/recycle: these are the key areas of the project.

cHOMgenius, a residential prototype building constructed in Busnago (MB) at the headquarters of BFC Sistemi s.r.l., is now home to CirceDC's OFFLAB HARD, a center of expertise dedicated to the testing and development of innovative design solutions, in accordance with the principles of Design for Adaptability (DfA) and Design for Disassembly (DfD), the European JRC Level(s) and international and Italian regulations.

The cHOMgenius prototype is fully demountable, seismically controlled, and off-grid thanks to coordinated energy systems that include a heat pump, micro-cogenerator, solar panels, electric cells, inertial storage, and very low voltage electrical systems (48 and 24V DC). The core system is an integrated energy module with AI control, predictive algorithm, and IoT connectivity. The project has developed an off-site construction system with morphological flexibility, based on the reuse of disused modular elements (HC shipping containers) with a structural function, and on the use of environmentally certified industrialized multifunctional components, dry-assembled using clamping techniques. The system also integrates an innovative seismic protection device.

    • Design and development of technological and technical-construction solutions for dry, seismic, and energy structures, with control and verification of the “zero waste” construction and production process. • LCA assessments and estimation of the impact of new technologies on the value of real estate. • Transdisciplinary team design and strategic/operational coordination.
