HOusing conditions and MEntal health. Resilient strategies for quality improvement during lockdown periods
Stefano Capolongo (Principal Investigator)
In the light of the social repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic, the aim is to provide tools to mitigate and counteract the effects of future epidemics or lockdown periods on the psychophysical well-being of the population. It is essential to rethink housing in terms of quality, comfort and adaptive capacity in situations of prolonged confinement to protect the physical and mental health of the inhabitants. The study of a representative sample of the national population will make it possible to systematically assess the characteristics of dwellings (size, views, indoor quality) and their impact on psychophysical well-being (depression, anxiety, insomnia). The originality and analysis of the collected data will allow the elaboration of a manual of strategies to improve the quality of the residential building stock, a prototype for possible implementation on pilot cases (phase 2).
