Observing Metamorphoses

Insights into change and innovation

As part of the collaboration between the Politecnico di Milano and Coop Lombardia, a public event of discussion and reflection on the future of urban spaces and contemporary consumption takes shape:
“Observing Metamorphoses. Perspectives on Change and Innovation.”

Starting from the volume Metamorphoses of Large-Scale Consumption Spaces (Lettera Ventidue, 2025) – the result of joint research between the Department of Architecture, Built Environment and Construction Engineering of the Politecnico and the Technical Department of Coop Lombardia – the initiative offers a multidisciplinary perspective on the ongoing transformations in large-scale retail spaces, which are becoming increasingly hybrid, multifunctional, and tied to the dimension of urban proximity.

A dialogue among visions, disciplines, and generations

The event brings together a variety of voices and experiences, invited to reflect on the economic, social, environmental, and cultural transformations shaping the spaces of today’s cities.
An open dialogue, including contrasting viewpoints, to understand the changes in consumption and behavior, amidst new needs, emerging inequalities, and drivers of innovation.
