STRUNA

2018
Can the environment in which we live or work be improved and CO2 emissions reduced at the same time? It is the objective of Struna, the Modular Kit for integration and installation of one or more bioreactors for the cultivation of microalgae.
Microalgae offer innovative solutions in different fields thanks to their air filtering and CO₂ absorption properties, operating 24 hours a day regardless of sunlight. They also find application in the food (for example, spirulina against malnutrition) and pharmaceutical fields.
In addition, microalgae are being tested in agriculture as fertilizers and biostimulants, to improve soil and crops, and in urban and industrial wastewater treatment. During these processes, they produce heat, making them a sustainable resource for purification and energy efficiency.
The STRUNA system is organized into kits composed of an integrated system, made up of a modular structure made up of modular elements that develops horizontally and vertically and an integrated system made up of bioreactors managed by a parallel connection, for the cultivation of microalgae.
Prototyping
The project was carried out through laser cutting of acrylic foils, then assembled through joints, without the use of glues or screws.
