INNOVance

2011

The INNOVance project had the objective of creating the first standardised, open-access database containing all of the information – of a technical, scientific, economic and legal nature – used in the construction supply chain. This was achieved by establishing:

  • a unique identification code for products, services and resources employed in the construction industry, intended to assist the contractual phase between parties;
  • a standardised digital technical datasheet for each product, service and resource, the content of which is made available to the users in paper, electronic and/or multimedia format, in order to provide valid technical support to companies and limit disagreements between the parties;
  • a prototype of a shared database to connect stakeholders in the construction process and make it possible to rapidly and comprehensively review the information contained in the technical datasheets, through Building Information Modelling (BIM);
  • a web portal that made it possible for users to make use of the codified information at any time or place in the construction phase, from the design stage to the construction of the built product and its subsequent management.

Overall, the project lasted for a period of three years (July 2011 – July 2014) and was funded by the public competition “Industry 2015 – PII Energy efficiency in the technological area of reference identified in the call under Art. 1, paragraph 3, “b2”, and named: “Technological areas with high application potential: high-efficiency materials for construction and bio-climactic architecture.”
