Research

Her research investigates the relationships between the building envelope, the physical environment, and user behavior, integrating numerical modeling, experimental measurements, and in-use monitoring. She is the author of over 190 scientific publications (ORCID: 0000-0001-8558-783X).

Main research areas include:

  1. Envelope engineering and high-performance building components/systems: design and testing of advanced building envelopes, study of thermal-energy and lighting performance, and characterization of the optical-radiative properties of materials, surfaces, and solar shading systems.
  2. Climate design, well-being, and health: analysis of indoor and outdoor microclimatic conditions, mitigation strategies, and adaptation of the built environment to climate change, assessment of environmental comfort and daylighting, with a people-centered approach to user-built environment interactions.
  3. Responsive and data-driven buildings: development and multi-scale validation of models, KPIs, and protocols for the integrated assessment of environmental and energy performance and their effects on comfort, health, well-being, and perceived quality of spaces.

Grants, awards and Honours

Holder of two national patents with international extensions (Europe, China, USA).

Winner of the Switch2Product | Innovation Challenge acceleration program (Politecnico di Milano, PoliHub, Deloitte) with the Textudo project: a technology based on a cementitious matrix (cement, water, and polymer fluid) coupled with a deformable three-dimensional fabric. The surface creation does not require formwork or dedicated molds, enabling a rapid and cost-effective production process.
