Caputo Paola

Associate Professor

Associate Professor of Environmental Technical Physics, he has been conducting research in the energy and environmental sector for approximately 25 years. He focuses on energy transition and planning, analyzing their environmental impacts and overseeing stakeholder engagement processes, as well as assessing the sustainability of agri-food supply chains and institutional catering. He adopts an interdisciplinary approach to his research that integrates dynamic energy simulations, thermal network modeling and optimization, energy and environmental analyses, and sustainability assessments based on KPIs, LCA, and multi-criteria methods. He has participated in and coordinated major national and international projects, publishing the results in scientific journals and leading conference proceedings.

Degree in Environmental and Land Management Engineering (1997).

PhD in Energetics (2002).

Research

Integration of renewable sources; district heating (DHC) systems, with a focus on biomass, local sources, and waste heat recovery; energy poverty; energy and environmental impacts of agri-food supply chains and mass catering.

Community Service

Member of the Fiper Technical-Scientific Committee; Representative for the Polytechnic University of Milan for RUS-Food; Member of the Joint Commission for Architectural Design; Department Delegate for sustainability and well-being for the 2023-2025 period.
