Marino Fabio

Fabio Marino (Palermo, 1988) is an architect and researcher in the history of architecture. He studied at the Polytechnic of Milan and at the Facultad de Arquitectura, Diseño y Urbanismo of the Universidad de Buenos Aires, and obtained his PhD in Architecture, History and Project from the Polytechnic of Turin. His research focuses on twentieth-century architecture, with particular attention to cultural and professional migrations between Italy and the Americas, as well as to the relationship between architecture and post-WWII Italian design. He has conducted research on architects’ archives and transnational cultural networks, receiving awards and fellowships from universities in the United States.

Research

His research focuses on contemporary architecture, with particular attention to cultural and professional migrations between Italy and the Americas during the twentieth century. This includes his PhD dissertation, “Rome-New York-Rome. The Exchange Program between the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Rome La Sapienza and the School of Architecture at Columbia University in the 1930s”.

Another main area of study concerns the relationships between architecture and post-WWII Italian design, explored through professional archives, editorial production, and transnational cultural networks. Within this framework, he conducted research on the work of Franco Albini and Roberto Poggi, which led to the publication of “Il mondo di Poggi. L’officina del design e delle arti” (Electa, 2019) and the related exhibition at the Castello Visconteo in Pavia (2022).

He has also carried out in-depth research on the archives of contemporary architects, among these projects, a postdoctoral study of Andrea Bruno’s archive enabled him to compile a comprehensive catalogue of works and a critical bibliography, which resulted in the monograph “Andrea Bruno, opere e progetti” (Electa, 2023).Within the cultural activities promoted by the ABC Department, he has co-curated international conferences on the relationships between architecture, dissemination, and cultural tourism, including “For the General Public. Architecture between Debate, Dissemination, and Narrative Strategies” (2025) and “Architecture and Coastal Tourism (1960-1980): Fragility between Historical Studies and New Scenarios” (2024).
