Gandelli Emanuele

Researcher

Since May 2026, Emanuele Gandelli has been a Tenure-Track Researcher (RTT) in Structural Engineering at the Department of Architecture, Built Environment and Construction Engineering (DABC), Politecnico di Milano, Italy. He received his PhD with honors from the same institution and, in 2023, obtained the Italian National Scientific Qualification (ASN) for the position of Associate Professor. Before joining academia, he spent five years as an R&D Engineer at a multinational company operating in the field of steel structures and seismic protection devices, contributing to the development of innovative technologies and obtaining an industrial patent. He then served as Assistant Professor (RTD-A) at the University of Brescia. He is the author of numerous scientific publications and is involved in national and international research projects in structural and earthquake engineering.

Research

Dr. Gandelli's research focuses on structural and earthquake engineering, with particular emphasis on the development and application of innovative technologies for the seismic protection of buildings and infrastructure. His main research interests include nonlinear numerical modelling of structures equipped with seismic isolation and energy dissipation systems, the design and assessment of seismic protection devices, the safety evaluation of existing structures, and the dynamic monitoring of complex structural systems through Operational Modal Analysis (OMA). His research combines theoretical, numerical, and experimental approaches and is applied to strategic buildings, bridges, steel structures, and historic constructions.

Community Service

Dr. Gandelli contributes to the scientific community through peer-review activities for numerous international journals in structural and earthquake engineering and serves in several editorial roles, including Academic Editor, Reviewer Editor, and member of Topical Advisory Panels for international scientific journals. He is an active member of national research networks, including ReLUIS, FABRE, and ANIDIS, and contributes to the organization of scientific workshops, mini-symposia, and dissemination initiatives. He also serves on academic committees for the evaluation and selection of researchers, research fellows, and PhD candidates. From 2022 to 2026, he served as an elected member of the Innovation and Internationalization Committee of the Order of Engineers of the Province of Brescia (Italy), contributing to the organization of professional training events, workshops, and science outreach initiatives focused on innovation and technology transfer.
