Boniotti Cristina

Researcher

Cristina Boniotti is a researcher of Architectural Conservation at the Department of Architecture, Built Environment and Construction Engineering of Politecnico di Milano.
She holds a master’s degree in Architecture, and a specialization diploma in Architectural and Landscape Heritage, both with honors at Politecnico di Milano.
She also earned a PhD with honors in Architecture, Built Environment and Construction Engineering from Politecnico di Milano on the topic of conservation and management of public built cultural heritage.
In addition, she has been a short-term scholar at the University of Central Florida and the MIT - Massachusetts Institute of Technology, as well as won a research scholarship at the University of Brescia.
She took part in national and international research projects, among which the European project “CHANGES - Changes in cultural heritage activities: new goals and benefits for economy and society”, supported by the JPI Heritage Plus program and jointly developed by Politecnico di Milano, KU Leuven, Uppsala University, and TU Delft.
She has been presenting the outcomes of her research at international conferences and publishing papers on heritage conservation and valorization since 2016.

Thesis: “Conservation and management of built cultural heritage: the case of public complex properties”; supervisor: Prof. Stefano Della Torre; co-supervisor: Prof. Caroline Cheong, University of Central Florida.

Research
Cristina Boniotti performs research on conservation and valorization of built cultural heritage.
Her research focuses on cultural heritage management, public-private partnership (P3), community involvement through public-private-people partnership (P4), and innovative funding opportunities.
Besides, she examines the role of cultural heritage as a driver of economic growth and community resilience, especially so in local inland areas.
