Full Professor

Claudio Bernuzzi served as a University Researcher (Disciplinary Group No. 132) at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Trento from January 3, 1989. From November 1, 1998, he served as an Associate Professor of Structural Engineering at the Politecnico di Milano.Since March 1, 2018, he has been serving as a Full Professor in the scientific-disciplinary sector ICAR/09 – Structural Engineering at the Department of Architecture, Built Environment and Construction Engineering of the Politecnico di Milano.

Career

Degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Section, Structural Engineering track, at University of Pavia, 1986.

Research

Claudio Bernuzzi’s scientific activity is primarily carried out in the field of Steel Structures. More specifically, research has focused on both steel structural systems and composite steel–concrete systems, as well as on the components that characterize their structural response.

The following research topics have been addressed:

  • Beam-to-column joints for steel framed structures under both monotonically increasing loads and cyclic actions.
  • Numerical analysis of semi-rigid steel framed structures.
  • Experimental and theoretical analysis of beam-to-column joints for composite steel–concrete framed structures.
  • Experimental and theoretical analysis of composite steel–concrete systems with steel beams fully embedded within the slab depth.
  • Low-cycle fatigue of components for steel framed systems.
  • Experimental and theoretical analysis of industrial storage racking systems.
  • Experimental and theoretical analysis of concrete slabs cast on composite steel decking.
  • Design of structural systems made with thin-walled steel profiles.
