
Baglione Chiara
Associate Professor
Chiara Baglione is Associate Professor of History of Architecture at the Politecnico di Milano.She has published books and essays, curated exhibitions, and taken part in national and international conferences. From 1989 to 2019 she was an editor of the journal Casabella. In 2003 she was a Visiting Scholar at the Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA) in Montreal.
Career
Chiara Baglione earned a degree in Architecture from the Università Iuav di Venezia in 1989, with a thesis in History of Architecture entitled Turin 1928: Architects and Architecture at the Valentino Exhibition. Awarded a three-year research fellowship, she obtained her PhD in History of Architecture and Urbanism in January 2001 at the Department of History of Architecture of the Università Iuav di Venezia, with a dissertation entitled Pietro da Cortona, Alessandro VII and the Church of Santa Maria in Via Lata in Rome. From 2002 to 2004 and from 2006 to 2008, she held two-year research fellowships at the Department of History of Architecture of the Università Iuav di Venezia. From 2005 to 2016, she taught at the Università Iuav di Venezia and at the Faculty of Civil Architecture of the Politecnico di Milano. From November 2008 to February 2016, she was a Researcher in History of Architecture at the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture of the Kore University of Enna, and from March 2016 to January 2022 at the Politecnico di Milano. In November 2020, she obtained the Abilitazione scientifica nazionale (I fascia - 08/E2, Restoration and History of Architecture). Since January 2022, she has been Associate Professor at the Department of Architecture, Construction Engineering and Built Environment.
Career
Chiara Baglione has carried out research in the academic field of the History of Architecture from the early modern period to the contemporary era. Her work focuses on architectural culture in Italy and the United States during the first and second halves of the twentieth century, with particular attention to the communication of architecture in specialized journals and in mass media aimed at the general public.

Since 2017, she has been a member of the Academic Board of the PhD program in Architecture. History and Design at the Doctoral School of the Politecnico di Torino. From 2010 to 2012, she was part of the Academic Board of the PhD program in History of Architecture and Conservation of Architectural Heritage at the University of Palermo.From 2017 to 2019, she served on the Scientific Committee of the Department of Architecture, Construction Engineering and Built Environment, and from 2020 to 2021 she was the Director’s Delegate for communication and cultural policies within the same department.Since 2018, she has been a member of the Scientific Committee of Temporánea. Revista de Historia de la Arquitectura, published by Editorial Universidad de Sevilla. She is also a member of the scientific boards of the book series Progetti & storie. Ricerche e materiali dal dottorato in architettura, published in Turin by Accademia University Press, and Daedalus.
