Pettorruso Carlo
Post doc fellow
Carlo Pettorruso is a structural civil engineer. He graduated with top marks (110/110) in Civil Engineering from Politecnico di Milano and earned a PhD with honors from the ABC Department at the same university. After completing his master’s degree, he worked in leading engineering firms before pursuing an academic and research career. His doctoral research focused on the seismic retrofit of existing bridges through seismic isolation, followed by studies on the assessment and safety of post-tensioned reinforced-concrete bridges. He then held a two-year postdoctoral research fellowship and is currently an Assistant Professor (RTD-A) at the ABC Department, Politecnico di Milano. He was also part of the research group that obtained a patent for a seismic energy-dissipation device and a member of the team that won the S2P contest.
