Towards Energy Retrofit of Contemporary Architecture
Stefania Landi (Principal Investigator)
Focusing attention on the energy efficiency of contemporary architecture means balancing sustainability issues with those related to building preservation. With this in mind, the research project supports a change in approach: from adaptation to performance improvement within limits that safeguard the value of buildings.
The analysis methodology is based on the documentation of 32 buildings of recognized quality, built since 1945, which have undergone energy retrofitting of their systems. The buildings represent a wide range of types and functions, ensuring that a broad spectrum of climatic zones is covered. The proposed data sheets are descriptive models that guide the compiler through a learning process involving different levels of detail.
