Website's ProjectImproving STEAM Education in Secondary Schools through the development and co-creation of new methodologies for teaching to and exploitation by pupils of GIS products related to climate impact on the environment

The focus of GIS4SCHOOLS is to improve STEAM Education in Secondary Schools through the development and co-creation of new methodologies for teaching to and exploitation by pupils of GIS products related to climate impact on the environment. Foreseen outputs include:
1) Development and implementation of a Training Package (TP);
2) Suite of open source GIS products co-created with pupils involvement, including an open training material based on case studies (examples: increase in surface temperature, desertification, forest fires, flooding, etc.);
3) Pupils-led final report based on GIS Products;
4) E-learning platform and Open Source Repository. The methodology of the project will combine Inquiry Based Science Education (IBSE) and Problem Based Learning (PBL) approach to an interdisciplinary contextualization of the topic.

DABC activities
The project involved research groups from the DABC and DICA departments. Activities carried out: • Preparation, organization, and delivery of a training course for high school teachers participating in the project on the topic of “Earth Observation and Geoinformation.” • Preparation, organization, and delivery of webinars. • Support for projects developed by schools in Spain and Romania.
