Digital framework

A distributed digital collaboration framework for small and medium-sized engineering and construction enterprises

Giuseppe Martino Di Giuda (Principal Investigator), Marco Imperadori, Elsa Garavaglia, Franco Guzzetti, Sara Valaguzza

The project develops an open-source, proof-of-concept implementation of digital framework, to support the data transactions among the diverse stakeholders over a construction lifecycle. Construction project delivery involves an intensive and legally significant information flow: the platform supports the notarization of any information transaction and as a result its change history. The digital framework exploits the latest Web-based and Blockchain technologies and knowhow on information management in order to: a) foster SMEs industrial collaboration, leading to an extended concept of “Industrial Symbiosis”; b) integrate an easy to use, digital collaborative framework accessible to any companies and public institutions, enabling information transactions with embedded notarization; c) overcome the complex workflow normalization and synchronization by enabling a loosely coupled digital interactions; d) provide an environment to leverage the uptake of new technologies. The framework will be tested in real building lifecycle processes related to post seismic reconstruction.
