NextBuild Living Lab, the new research infrastructure of the ABC Department, has been inaugurated.
The laboratory transforms the Department's buildings into a living laboratory for sustainable innovation: through sensors and a digital twin, air quality, energy consumption, temperature, and user well-being are monitored in real time, with users playing an active role in the research process.
The NextBuild Living Lab involves over 15 laboratories in the ABCLab system and is a cutting-edge model in Italy for research applied to urban sustainability, energy efficiency, and social resilience.
The goal? To design increasingly smart and people-friendly built environments, adopting an approach centered on the user experience.
“Today, it is no longer enough to design high-performance buildings. We must build spaces that are capable of communicating with those who live in them, that know how to adapt to people's real needs” – Stefano Capolongo, Director of DABC.
