TemporActive

2019

The TemporActive pavilion, an innovative tensile structure project, was installed for the first time at the TensiNet Symposium 2019, held at the Polytechnic of Milan. Located in Piazza Leonardo da Vinci, in front of the Polytechnic, it played the role of Main Entrance Pavilion for the conference, offering a lounge space for sponsors. This ultra-lightweight temporary structure is a hybrid bending-active arch fiberglass system, reinforced by steel cables that, when curved, becomes resistant while maintaining minimal thicknesses. The transparent and flexible membrane casing allows for quick and easy assembly, with the possibility of reusing the pavilion in other contexts. The design challenge combined lightening the structure with integrating time as a key parameter. After the symposium, the pavilion will be used as a space for Polytechnic students. TemporActive is an example of advanced technology in tensile structures, designed for lightness, mobility and adaptability, and characterized by new shapes and materials that also guarantee optimal thermal and acoustic conditions.
