Development of an innovative heating system for localised comfort in the Basilica di Collemaggio (AQ)

Identifying the optimum solution for localised comfort in the Basilica was based on research on an option capable of ensuring an adequate level of environmental comfort, remaining within the fixed constraints of the project. Indeed, it raised the problem of identifying an adequate compromise between the comfort needs of users and the constraints in technological terms, such as the need to be removable and maintain the internal thermal-hygrometric conditions required to preserve the elements of historical and monumental value.

The plant solution adopted consists of the use of hydronic radiant panels, at a low temperature, which were created using modular parts that were integrated within new pews that had been designed specifically for this purpose. The heating function during winter periods will therefore be provided by the new pews which will be able to achieve satisfactory environmental comfort conditions using radiant surfaces integrated within their structure.
