ActaReBuild provides research and training in retrofitting the office building fleet in Europe, using a new generation of sustainable materials and building components. Doctoral candidates will learn how to improve and ensure the acoustic and thermal performance of buildings undergoing renovation processes, while minimizing the production of embedded carbon.
The training offered to the 10 Doctoral Candidates, interconnected through the network, will strengthen their research and transferable skills, necessary for successful careers in this rapidly growing sector. This objective will be achieved thanks to a unique and interdisciplinary combination of practical research training, supported by high-quality supervision for the achievement of a joint doctoral degree; through secondment periods with industrial partners; participation in courses and workshops on scientific and complementary skills, facilitated by the consortium's academic and non-academic partners.
Thanks to network-wide interactions, Doctoral Candidates will familiarize themselves with a variety of new building materials and solutions (bio-, nano-, meta-, recycled, 3D printed materials and multilayer structural leathers), measurement techniques and evaluation methods (such as life cycle analysis and sustainability assessment, psychoacoustic methods, specialized experiments on thermal behavior and a variety of simulation techniques in acoustics, energy, hygrothermal behavior).
