For Milan Design Week 2026, the ABC Department of the Politecnico of Milan confirms its commitment to promoting and supporting creativity and design culture.
Design Week 2026 initiatives:
OLTRE
Date: April 20-26
Project Press Conference: Thursday, April 23
Location: Veneta Cucine, Padiglione 02, Stand B01 A01 A02, Salone del Mobile 2026
OLTRE is an outdoor kitchen designed for Veneta Cucine by DABC faculty member Carlo Ratti – Studio Carlo Ratti Associati.
Building on Veneta Cucine’s idea of continuous space, the project envisions a kitchen that extends beyond the home and into the landscape.
The project originates from an initial collaboration between CRA and Veneta Cucine during the 19th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale, whose curatorial theme explored the relationship between natural, artificial, and collective intelligence. Designed to adapt to a wide range of terrains, the installation will debut at Eurocucina during Milan Design Week.

/KENOSIS
Date: Thursday, April 23
Time: Range Talks1 - Architecture 14:30-15:3
Location: Nuovo SuperStudio Village (Bovisa)
The first talk of the day, /KENOSIS, explores the generative process as a shared language between architecture, cities, and matter. How are algorithms and AI — for example, from topology optimization to generative diffusion — redefining the way we design spaces, structures, and materials? Three registers in dialogue: urban regeneration as intelligent land reclamation, biodesign as a form induced by nature, and new materials as a space of possibilities yet to be written. A dialogue between architecture studios, academic research, and technological innovation, streamed live and open to the public. The academic research partner is the Politecnico di Milano, with professor Ingrid Paoletti, an expert in new materials.
