When fiction becomes reality: the cinematic imagination in the revitalization of territories
Cross-disciplinary educational seminar curated by Marco Rossitti and Chiara Baglione

The seminar “When fiction becomes reality: the cinematic imagination in the revitalization of territories” aims to engage students in a transdisciplinary reflection on the role of the cinematic imagination in the construction of “narratives” of urban space and in the enhancement of built heritage. Through the adoption of a historiographical perspective, the seminar will critically discuss how cinema contributes to representing and reinterpreting the built environment, influencing the processes of perception, meaning, and enhancement of the same.
The seminar was funded by the Department of Architecture, Construction Engineering, and the Built Environment (DABC) as part of the call for “Transversal Teaching Seminars (first semester of the 2025/2026 academic year)”.
Curated by: Marco Rossitti, Chiara Baglione (DABC, Politecnico di Milano)
Speaker: Andrea Maglio - Full Professor of History of Architecture at the Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering (DICEA) of the University of Naples Federico II and Director of the Interdepartmental Research Center for Architectural and Environmental Heritage and Urban Design (BAP) at the same university.
