RADICI

The roots of an identity – themes, tools and itineraries for the rediscovery of the Sondrio area between prehistory and the Middle Ages

Marco Stanislao PRUSICKI (docente coordinatore), Angelo LORENZI, Giorgio FRASSINE, Edoardo COLONNA DI PALIANO

The project focuses on the different cultural landscapes of the Sondrio area.
Landscape is not only synonymous with natural beauty, but is also a vehicle for historical, social and cultural information: artefacts, values, traditions, natural and built landscape define local culture and identity. Rock engravings, mine archaeology, castles, medieval settlements, the sacred landscape and the agricultural-forest landscape find new meaning in present-day life thanks to a path to rediscover the specificity of Valtellina, starting from its most ancient history.
The approach is based on the involvement of both public and private actors and citizens, with the aim of promoting a circulation of knowledge and values.
Radici includes material interventions for the rehabilitation, protection and enhancement of the artistic and architectural heritage, and study, research and re-appropriation activities, with a strong focus also on the educational aspect.
