The Shelby White and Leon Levy Program for Archaeological Publication will allow to produce the final report on the excavations at Taşlı Geçit Höyük, a multi-period site (4.5 ha large) located in the Islahiye valley at the western fringes of the Gaziantep province (South-East Turkey).
The archaeological site was first identified in the 1950s by a Turkish survey. Since 1974, due to the construction of the Tahtaköprü Dam, Taşlı Geçit Höyük suffered seasonal flooding by the resulting water reservoir which began to deeply erode its lower flanks, as well as for some illicit diggings.
To document and protect it, in 2009 a Turco-Italian expedition led by N. Marchetti started a two-year project of archaeological and geophysical rescue investigation. The aim was also to understand the urban development of the site and its relationship with the landscape through time.
The final report will be available open access and will include different contributions.
