– Born in Pavia (Italy) the 27th April 1965.
– Laurea (Master of Science) in Civil Engineering (110/110 with honors) with a thesis “Crack growth in metallic materials: mechanical and stochastic aspects” in October 1989.
– Collaboration with the Joint Research Centre of Ispra in 1988 for a period of two months.
– ERASMUS student at the Technical Mechanics Institute of the Karlsruhe University (West Germany) from January 1989 to March 1989Grant from ATA (Associazione dei Tecnici dell’Automobile) from April 1990 to April 1991.
– Visiting scholar at the Florida Atlantic University of Boca Raton (FL), USA from August 1991 to November 1991PhD degree in Structural Engineering with a thesis “Fatigue lifetime of metallic structural components under stochastic actions” in January 1996.

– Associate Professor of Structural Mechanics at the Department of Structural Engineering of the Politecnico di Milano (Italy) from September 2002 to December 2012 and at the Department of Architecture, Built Environment and Construction Engineering of the Politecnico di Milano (Italy) from January 2013 to January 2016.
– Full Professor of Structural Mechanics at the Department of Architecture, Built Environment and Construction Engineering of the Politecnico di Milano (Italy) from February 2016 to present.
– Author of about 125 publications (46 on national/international journals, book chapters or monographs) on stochastic fatigue crack growth, random vibrations, steel structures, biomechanics and structural rehabilitation.

– Participation to several research projects at national level (MURST quota 40%, PRIN e RELUIS) and supervisor of several research contracts at the Politecnico di Milano.

– Teaching activity in several courses on steel structures, bridges design and structural rehabilitation using innovative materials.
