Matteo Ruta is Associate Professor since 2014 at POLIMI – ABC. He graduated with honoursin Building Engineering from Politecnico di Milano in 1999, where he also earned a PhD in 2003 with a dissertation on technological innovation of products and process in the building architectural sector. From 2005 to 2014 he served as Assistant Professor and Researcher in the field of technological innovation for the improvement of the energetic and the working quality, always in POLIMI. He took part in a number of researches on these topics, including some national strategic projects and three European projects. Recent works include research about new products in collaboration with factories. His activity research is also concerned with experimental buildings designed in Europe. He followed some experimental examples in this field such, for example: the “sustainable low cost social housing named BIRD” in Brescia – Italy promoted by the Lombardia Region, a “Zero Energy house for children without family for the Leandro Rossi Foundation” in Lodi – Italy, a “sustainable primary school in Brivio street”, Milan – Italy promoted by the municipality of Milan and also the new building for the Department of Energy of Politecnico di Milano named “EDZEB”.

He teaches “Architectural Refurbishment”, “Building components design” and “Project Management” at Politecnico di Milano.

Since 2006 he is scientific consultant for the architectural magazine “Arketipo”, published by New Business Media – TecnicheNuove.
