ICAR/19 - Conservation and restoration of architecture

Since the beginning didactic activities (1988), research activities and design researches run around the scientific work of Marco Dezzi Bardeschi and of the School of Preservation of Monuments in Politecnico of Milano. Here the restoration of the monuments is overcome by the physical conservation of the existing architectural heritage. The restoration is no longer the reconstruction of the “primitive forms”, but the preservation of the physical substance of the buildings that have come from the past.

The research is thus performed on several fronts: the history of the architectural restoration in the nineteenth century, forms of degradation of the materials that constitute the historical buildings, the conservation project and construction management.

All these works are recognizable in the research and publishing activity presented below, especially in the editorial staff of the magazine ‘ANANKE (from1993 to 2001).

Full professor (since 2018), associate professor full-time (since 2001), member of the Order of Architects of the Province of Como in n. 1106 from November 9, 1990, carries out consultancy in the field of detection of the development of the project of conservation and aftercare of the site by permission of the Polytechnic of Milan (is the case of the restoration and reuse of the ex-church of Transfigurazione (Cantù) in the Museum of the history of the city and applied arts for which authorization has been issued by the Politecnico during the years 2003-2008).

Since always, from the point of view of scientific research deals with the history of restoration and finalize the research activities of promotion of cultural heritage.
