Antonio Capsoni

ICAR/08 - Structural mechanics

Graduated in Civil Engineering (1991), later earned a PhD in Structural Engineering (1995) at Politecnico di Milano.
He has been part of the permanent staff of the Structural Engineering Department of PoliMi since 1995, first as an Assistant Professor and then as Associate Professor (2002).
He gave classes on Theory of Structures, Structural Reliability, Reinforced Concrete Theory and now of Stability of Structures.
Heis author of many scientific and technical works published by International Journals or in International Congress Summaries. His interests span from theoretical subjects (theory of plates, plasticity, limit analysis, mixed finite element formulations) to more applied fields (footbridge vibrations, structural stability, bridge engineering, structural optimization, structural monitoring & assessment, passive damping strategies in tall buildings dynamics).
In parallel to the academic commitment, he developed his activity as Chartered Engineer in the field of Structural Engineering. Several of his bridge designs have received National and International awards.
